After the Fray Bentos Steak & Kidney pie disaster (it was mostly gravy) I thought that it would be worth checking out the chicken version.
These tinned pies are a British tradition. In the past, families used to share one of these pies as a weekend treat. Probably because it was an easy meal to make.
I did eat this whole pie (The one that entire families used to share) and it was delicious.
I specifically avoid using intrusive mid-run video adverts, which means I don't earn as much from my content as other YouTubers.

Can we get a comparison to some freezer pies?
Alternative cooking method . (veggie method, adapt for meat) Find a saucepan slightly bigger than pie (works for frozen small pies or the refrig ones too), add a half can of thick vegitable soup to saucepan, add slice of bread (or even stale french bread , chopped, or a bread roll, torn to about 4 pieces), add some water to the remainder of the soup (otherwise the veggie bits get stuck in the ribs of can), add pie (carefully taken from the tin) , pour over remainder of soupy water, bring pan to near boiling (covering about 3/4 of pan) for 5 mins , turn down heat and leave to simmer for about 20 mins. Turn into a large soup bowl. consume. Lovely. Can serve two or three people if required.
FB are they doing a quorny one (not certain of shelf life of that stuff). They do have a Cheese and Onion (OK) and a vegitable balti one.
Side cut tin openers will leave a sharp edge on the tin. The vertical openers leave sharp edge on the lid…. you pays your money…
I used to love these but haven't had one for decades. The nice gooey pastry was the best bit
Now this is the content I signed up for!
Filled with "chickeny type stuff". That would make a great advertising slogan – how could anyone resist that? I think it's actually made with cat food. At least that's what it looks like. Chickeny cat food, mind you.
I've done it baked in different styles and I still think it's yuk.
Half the size, half the ingredients for twice the price. Not worth a dump anymore.
These pies, instant mash or tinned new potatoes, tinned baby carrots and frozen peas.
Typical student fare in England in the eighties. All major food groups present in one delicious meal.
I'm an extremely honest person and that looks like something that fell out of my arse after a beer and food night out the next morning while taking a dump 😁
Have you tried the pudding versions yet?
Maybe it's the curse of being North American – my gripe with this pie was its blandness. I found it to have no flavor, no seasoning, no savory sensation.
