A total Ashens moment when I decided to taste test some Stilton cheese that had been in my fridge so long that it was six months out of date. Then I decided it was a bad idea. Particularly when I was going to be on a flight to Glasgow later in the day.

I like a good cheese too but I usually donโt eat it after it grows a fine layer of fur.
amazing how i find your content that i have yet to see, i have been in the food business for a very long time, I have cheese right now that is 100 years old and aged in a cave, it is a taleggio cheese , it smells terrible and taste even worst than it smells, cheese i think can live forever.
Just trim it,if it's gone hard.
If it's gone slimy,probably chuck it.

Use by dates and best before dates are relatively new. As are domestic fridges.

Being Blue Stilton, a penicillin based cheese it's about the only food that could simultaneously give and cure food poisoning.
