I was expecting this cheap energy monitor plug from eBay to be usable, but inaccurate.
It's not. There is a very fancy chip inside that rivals the accuracy of the Hopi, but with the slight annoyance of only displaying one or two variables at a time.
The chip has a manual that is over 100 pages long!

Which beats the processor in the same unit.
With proper understanding of the circuitry being at mains potential, the small circuit board could be an excellent base for a customised energy monitoring system.

If you buy alot of them in low price you can use it in every plug you have to monitor the load in the home

Regarding the Energy Meter, I hereby request the following information.

I know the meter has a battery.

    My question is:

Does the consumption meter work even without the battery or with a dead battery?

Basically, it is to know if the battery is only used to store the data, e.g. the value of the KWh or on the contrary is it necessary for the operation and power supply of the display?

I intend to use the Energy Meter not to know the value of the cost of energy but to know the value of the Power, Voltage, Current Intensity (A) and Power Factor of the device that I connect to the meter.

So I don't care if the device runs on batteries alone and that I have to replace them when they run out.

I got four power meters. A newer one is smaller w/ LED white back light.
Founded many electrical appliances with high standby current, I used Wifi plugs to solve the issues, even though it is a Wifi UV air conditioner.

We used to use ยผ watt resistors as substitutes for pyrotechnic fuses because you need a licence for the latter. They worked well in theatre pyrotechnic applications.

I see these be used in all the PC videos I watch and eventually bought this same one to prove to my mum that my LED RGB flood lamp takes up about 0.5W and not 20W as she kept assuming I also have used it on several other devices in the house like the massive fan we use in the summer uses 150W on max power which she thought only did 50W at max. Thanks on how to do the button combos because i lost the instructions.

I bought one of these some years ago,but recently stopped using it. My electricity consumption and cost more or less remained the same,so I could not see the point of using it. Damned good device though, well worth having.

Seeing as I`ve reduced my electricity usage by a third in the last 3 years, yet I`m now paying 4 times more than I was back then, I think its time to get one of these… If only to use the figures to use against my energy provider (Scottish Power)..
