Ozone has always been present in natural outdoor air. It's how nature regulates the presence of mold, viruses, bacteria and VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) in air, and why enclosed spaces like cupboards and unventilated attics can get quite "musty".
It has a very distinct odour that could be described as a fresh bleach-like smell, and when scientists first identified it they thought its fresh smell was invigorating and healthful. In reality, if you can smell it then there's too much to be breathing continuously.
That's not to say that a brief burst of higher level ozone might have a benefit of killing bacterial infections in lungs. But sustained high levels will cause irritation, and really high concentrations will cause cellular damage just like chlorine would cause skin damage in a swimming pool if used at a very high concentration.
Although ozone occurs outdoors as a natural part of air, it has a very short lifespan due to its active function of oxidising stuff. So nature creates it continuously with various environmental photochemical and electrostatic effects.
Those effects are not normally present in indoor areas, so unless there's a continuous flow of fresh air from outside, the level of ozone in indoor air will gradually deplete to near zero and give a competitive edge to spores, viruses, bacteria and other airborne contaminants.
There are two ways to maintain the ozone content of the air indoors. One is to have open windows or fans giving a continuous fresh supply of active outdoor air, or in situations where a continuous flow of outdoor air is undesirable (like in peak summer and winter) it's viable to create it at a similar level by electronic means. Fortunately this can be done with extremely low power.
Indoor ozone generators have a rather exciting and extreme history, from the fantastic looking units with clusters of neon tubes with capacitive corona discharge between them producing a high level of ozone, to the notorious but technically pleasing Ionic Breeze units with their corona discharge wires and fins.
(Corona discharge refers to the crown-like appearance of electrical plasma. It has NOTHING to do with the similarly named virus.)
High power ozone generators have their uses for deodorising hotel rooms, and helping reduce the smell of smoke in used vehicles and smoke damaged premises. But they are absolutely NOT suitable for use in occupied areas. They are the equivalent of a shock chlorine treatment in a swimming pool.
One of the most common trace level ozone replenishers is probably the classic needlepoint air ioniser. These units apply a high negative voltage at safe low current (microamps) to sharp needles or carbon fibre tufts, which then create an electrostatic charge in the air. That charge causes airborne dust and spores to precipitate out to any grounded surface including floors, walls and ceilings. One unexpected side effect of the ionisation of the air is a tiny plasma glow at the tips of the needles. That creates a continuous trace level of ozone that is nowhere even near the natural outdoor level, but still at a level that makes it useful indoors.
Unfortunately, many companies made ozone generators and then called them ionisers to cash in on their popularity. Many of those use the same needle system, but have an oppositely charged ring in front of the needle. This causes a very high ionic airflow and causes a much stronger plasma discharge on the needles. The glow is often very visible as a series of purple dots in these units. Some operate at a sensible level, but others are a bit fierce in their ozone output.
A recent trend - possibly initiated by the Japanese company Sharp - is to use two emitters, with one at a positive voltage and one at a negative voltage. This results in a high ionic flow that creates a very controlled low level plasma discharge.
Because of the aggressive anti-ozone militants, the manufacturers of these units tend to avoid saying the O-word and instead create heavy marketing about hydroxyl radicals (a molecule consisting of one atom of oxygen and one of hydrogen). In reality there are a wide variety of short-lived active air molecules created.
Japan LOVES it's ionic air purifiers. They're in almost every home, workplace and public building. They have effectively been doing a long term scientific test for decades.
I firmly believe that devices that produce a trickle of ozone and other active air molecules to replenish indoor air to a level of between 1 to 10 parts per billion are essential to maintain indoor air quality.

Looks like a Star Trek control panel readout top left.
Nice clear explanation
Clive, I was wondering if you've been tracking all the crazy "wildfires" around the world the last several years.
Myself and a very few others on YouTube have started calling them PLASMA FIRES.
They're not normal plasma fires. I believe they're started by DEW's and natural although rare geomagnetic induction caused by earths poles shifting.
And possibly new planetary bodies orbiting close to earth.
I live in northern Wyoming USA and have noticed fire smoke the last several years has little or no smell to it.
I'm thinking this could be due to some new ionic or ozone related phenomena.
It's not all due to the man-made DEW'S but it's a part of why all the crazy fires the last several years. There's natural but rare events that happen every few hundred years or so, some call it the PHOENIX EVENT where natural cosmic ray energy is let into our atmosphere.
This is supposedly caused at least in part or wholly due to the earths poles SHIFTING.
This creates huge amounts of natural geo magnetic inductions causing really crazy fires and likely effecting weather also.
Plasma Dew weapon/poleshift fires.
I'm copying and pasting this comment I left on another fire video. It applies just the same here.
The Paradise California, Dallas Texas Boulder Colorado and many other "Wildfires" are PLASMA and or DEW directed energy weapon fires in the last several years.
The Earth's poles shifting causing the magnetic shielding to shut down letting in cosmic rays creating spontaneous PLASMA fires.
In all these years our LEADERS and MSM have been silent about these plasma fires blaming them on "CLIMATE CHANGE" caused by us using fossil fuels, raising crops, livestock AND cowfarts.
They also have several directed energy weapons
DEW's or and technologies to create any kind of weather anywhere in the world, flooding, droughts, tornadoes all of them including fires and earthquakes.
They can direct these incoming cosmic rays energy caused by the Earth's poles shifting with HAARP, HAMMER, SMACC or solar magnetic amplification causative configurator and start these PLASMA DEW fires which is what this and many other fires our the last several years.
They could easily stop the droughts here in the US by using their rainmaking technologies but they don't.
Why don't they tell us why these trees are burning from the inside out, cars engine blocks wheels glass melting into rivulets on the pavement far away from trees or any fuel source? Etc.
They let us suffer and tell us it's caused by us .
Wake up and research all of this.
We need to stand up en masse NOW against all this tyrannical BS overtaking OUR world or we're finished.
Watch some of Jeff Snyder2's YouTube channel videos. He's probably getting the most relevant information out there that I've seen in these fires the last several years.
All the bad weather events in the last 10-20 years or more have also been caused by our LEADERS technologies that we paid for them to learn, build and use against us.
Please wake up and research this stuff. God bless all of you and your families.

EPA, is a political hack agency..
As a perennial hay fever sufferer, I used to swear by my ioniser/ozone generator to precipitate out the dust and to simultaneously freshen the air indoors. These days, I tend to just put up with the symptoms.
What you say about EPA Science is, sadly, all too true. An awful lot of the commentary on the curated papers is based on the interpretation by lay scientists rather than specialists. A regrettable amount of the scientific material is produced by qualified individuals who have not designed their experiments sufficiently rigorously, and end up reporting truisms as 'startling new results' and false results as fact.
One of the biggest failings of environmental monitoring is to consider a sharp cut-off level to exist between "good" and "bad" … there is a long, slow gradient between "invigorating" and "crippling" levels of, for example, ozone. We are designed to tolerate and even benefit from 10 to 50 ppb ozone, while 100 ppb may be less than beneficial, it is unlikely to do us long-term damage after a reasonable exposure, while 500 ppb will be tolerated for a much shorter time. Even a (single) lungful of ozone at the 5 ppm level (smells extremely pungent and choking) is unlikely to produce a long-term result, unpleasant though it may be.
Incidentally, the half life of ozone (above the baseline environmental level) is between 7 and 10 minutes due to re-dissociation, oxidation of reactive molecules and air exchange.
Clive, good job and welcome to anti science anti woke anti bullshit anti common sense.
I like the parts where Clive plinked
I love it when Bigclive goes professor mode……
Without making conclusions, I must say the argument "it's around in nature" is not logical. It's an appeal to nature fallacy. Occurring in nature is irrelevant to the health effects of something.
For example, humans have been absorbing solar UV radiation since the dawn of time. Does that mean UV radiation is safe? No. Not even in "natural" amounts.
The specific problem with the logic is that, biologically, the survival of a species only means individuals lived long enough to reproduce. It doesn't mean they were healthy.
We humans survived constant UV exposure because by the time we died of skin cancer we would have already had kids. That does not invalidate the fact that any amount of UV exposure increases the risk of cancer and should be minimized, as proven by science.
That's not to say you're right or wrong about natural levels of ozone, or to defend the EPA, but it is a bad argument. The only actual arguments either way will be from actual scientific study.
Or to put it sarcastically, "It was survivable enough for ancient humans to live to 20 years old" is not an acceptable modern standard of safety lol. It's a good informative video otherwise.
I like to listen to people who have a passion and honesty in what they do. I enjoyed watching your video, thank you for filming it!
NASA website versus EPA website?
Well, ONE AGENCY tends to be WEAPONIZED by OVERZEALOUS POLITICIANS.
I will let YOU decide which is which…๐
