This is a different style of shoe warmer. Most notable features of this pair are the complete lack of an earth connection on exposed metal plates with very hot components on them insulated by a wrap of Kapton tape, held in place by sharp riveted metal plates and with the plain PVC insulated wires soldered directly to the sawn-off PTC elements that look like they've been scribed and snapped to allow one PTC element to be used in both warmers.
The rather cute but dubious cable splitter has it's own over-run heater inside too, in the form of a 150K resistor in series with a red LED slapped right across the mains. (240V)

What I want to know is, who is importing stuff like that, and why aren't they getting the gaol.

Who in the world needs shoe warmers? That's the most insane idea I've ever heard of.

The resistor might also have an operating temperature range.
A RS-generic-datasheet for carbon resistors shows derating of power dissipation starting at 70C going straight down to zero at 150C.

The cable-splitter unit is a nice case… at least something is salvageable from these feet electrocution devices!

Seeing this old video … why are you not doing a project of upgrading the HOPI to not flicker like someone having a seizure. I think that could be very interesting! 🙂

What the fuck is a shoe warmer?? And literally every video you make you title it about how dangerous it is and it's really not, stop being an old boomer. Why would you be anywhere close to these electronics, even if it caught on fire (which it cant because its metal), who cares.

Why would you want to warm your shoes?
