A quick update now I've tested the capacity of the generic pink USB power bank. It's far short of the quoted 2600mAh rating. But that's no great surprise.
Useful to know though. At least the cell can be swapped for a beefier one if desired. (Assuming you can find a genuine high capacity cell.)

Maybe the shippers screwed up and accidently sent him the one filled with cocaine?

I can give you a name of a girl that is on aliexpress that has genuine cells from LG or Samsung, I paid around $3 for each battery (bought a order of 50) and each battery did have the 3000mAh, a few a little more and they also had the high drain of 30A

i got one of these power banks a couple years ago.. I ended ripping the USB module out, for the regulation and charge controller, and got myself 20x 18650 cells off ebay and soldered them in parallel, and then with that 1x USB module, i made a single male usb to twin female USB output.. so essentially, ended up with theoretically 10,000mah capacity, with the original USB module so has all the charge port etc, and twin USB outlet.. and made a wooden casing for it all.. Still use it to this day..
Charge my Go Pro with it, every weekend while im at the motocross track 😀

I'm curious about the capacity of 4 cells I have for a flashlight now. Olight brand 3.6V 3400mAh 18650 li-ion batteries, so the label says. I figure they're fairly genuine since they're a tad heavy and have circuit protection, but am unsure if the capacity matches the label considering the sheer number of overstated cells. You personally come across them?

Search for NCR18650B. Panasonic 3400mAh cells. Best ones you can get.

White powder? Hrump, lazy-ass Chinese. If I made counterfeit batteries, I'd put spring-loaded novelty snakes in them.

There is a systhematic error in your measure setup. What you measured is the current capacity of the power bank, not the cell.
The 2600mAh is the (of course over-estimated) nominal current capacity of the cell at during the discharging from full to termination voltage, or average 3.6V. What you measured is the current capacity of the power bank at its nominal 5V. including the energy needed to step-up from 3.6V to 5V and the switching losses.
To measure the mAh figure of the cell, you have to integrate the current along time on the cell terminal, not the SMPS output.

It's quite unusual that they made the Li-Ion cell easily removable

Laptop batteries are a great source for genuine cell!!! You'll find either samsung, sony or panasonic cells. ThinkPad, and Dell batteries have the BEST cells in them IMO. Depending on how old they are they will either be the old-style 2600 mAh or the new style 3200 mAH!!

I have the same power bank as in this video, except its green and 1800mAh, thanks for the upload.

Edit: And I have the exact same screwdriver used in the video! Talk about coincidences.

i have a 4000mah(?!) 18650 "uitraflrc" from the no f*cks given type brand and it measures 173.45mah on a professional ballast rig. I wonder whats in there.

Fake cells should be rare because it's easier to recycle old laptop batteries. Don't take a apart because there might be flames and acid. Take the thermal shrink tape used as shell and look for thermal print to identify the real 18650 used… Cell replacement is stupid it will just ruin the new good one, protection is shitty at least on these…if there's flour inside consider yourself lucky,I would use industrial ashes because you get paid to take them 😂
