This thing manages to be cute, fun and dangerous at the same time. It's like a remote control helicopter, except they replaced the helicopter bit with a disco ball and there's very little control where it goes. This results in much hilarity with friends when it randomly attacks them.
The run time is impressive for such a small lithium cell, and it recharges fairly quickly via the supplied USB charge lead.
The circuitry is predictably well-tuned for a mass produced product, and the ground proximity sensing and motor stall detection are well implemented. The small amount of circuitry is text-book.
Note that the unit seems to respond to infrared remote codes. Mainly decelerate and stop, then start again while LEDs remain lit.
Here's a general purpose eBay search link for these fun devices:-

Guide price should be around $4, so ignore the first few listings that give an unrealistically low price for some completely unrelated product.
If you enjoy these videos you can help support the channel with a dollar for coffee, cookies and random gadgets for disassembly at:-

This also keeps the channel independent of YouTube's advertising algorithms allowing it to be a bit more dangerous and naughty.

There are different versions i had one with a remote
It's only taken 4 years for me to get around to actually testing the theory but FWIW you can get these to just keep flying up by desoldering the IR emitter from the board and relocating it so it shines on the back of the IR receiver….
I'd like to have seen how it looks with the room lights switched off.
You found the mysterious Rainbow Snitch
BTW how long do the batteries last?
I could cause a lot of trouble with that.

This must be the prototpye for Half Life 2's manhacks? Found on in a charity shop last year, mine came with a remote control to turn the motor power on and off. Still eye wateringly nuts inside mind…
It looks like it would not just keep climbing seems to throttle up near the floor then fall back down and do it over and over ?
The best thing about this video is the insight into the layout of Clive's house.
