A look at the new simpler timer circuit and LED driver in the 2015 Premier illuminated tree.
This is a nice simple timer device that starts when you turn the decoration on in timer mode, and it then runs for 6 hours, turns off for 18 hours then repeats. This means the unit will theoretically turn on at the same time every night for six hours, saving the need to remember to turn it on and off. This also extends the battery life.

It should have latitude set up so that if I buy one and use it in Helsinki, Finland it will not light up in summer because it is not dark enough it to be seen and during winter it will light up about 2pm and shut down at midnight.
what is that blob thing? is that a microchip without a casing just some type of resin blobed on to the silicon or whatever the microchip blob thingy is made out of it?
What kind of screwdriver is that Amazon?
Clive's house on the Isle of Man doubles as a lighthouse! J/K Clive 😉
you should try making one! 😀
How about further investigations? Power/current consumption? Expected runtime calculations, blob reverse engeneering, outdoor use, build quality, LED color, etc. This could get interesting. Why do they need a transistor? An Attiny could povide 40mA directly. How are the LEDs wired?
questions clive can you build one that works with your Xmas lights is the question
Clive where did you get the tree?
please do a ramble on the differences between toroidal and laminated transformers
I guess they had an overstock of black electrical tape when they made this… 😛
Honestly clive you bought it becasue it was there and had led's in it.
That tree looks like one of your constructions clive, electrical insulation tape or loom tape wrapped around supports, thats got to be an electricians design LOL 😀
love your videos!
love your videos Clive, keep it up!!!!!
what is a blob really?
Your home must be impressively illuminated at night Clive.
Second!
