An unusual but very attractive light that Poundland introduced for 2016. It has a clip-on base that takes two AAA cells and runs two 8mm slow colour change LEDs.
I promised some handy search links, so here they are:-

These LEDs are cheap and cheerful, perfect for experimentation and general fun projects, but I wouldn't recommend using them in a commercial product.

thanks Clive. RLTW!!
I should buy these for the LEDs, are they still on sale?
With the rgb leds you could use a
USB power bank and 220 ohms resistor.
For me I like flicker LEDs for lights.
Haha, we have 2 of these glowing butt plugs. They do indeed fade to red with old batteries, but they last reasonably as a night light.
Wow, respect if you've a butt to take that
Instant thumbs up for the butt plug comment. LOL!
now that's one purdy buttplug!
So what if the current just went straight through the inductor? The LED would just light up normally and when the voltage got too low to run it directly, the joule thief would take over. Or am I missing something?
Always enjoy your informative projects and video style…..could a solar panel be added to save from battery changes? Would house lighting charge the battery? Thanks.
Battery light? Or rectal illumination device.
This video just cost me stacking 3 pound to a couple of eBay auctions on LEDs. Clive you are now costing me money, and I think that it's not the last time you get me on to eBay buying things for fun.
But okay if it is cheesy and cheep.
As always, great video.
Another way to get the new LED (pretty much) dead center would be to push the leads through the holes diagonally, ie. one through top left, the other through bottom right.
You mentioned the pattern of the RGB LED on the .. I will call it a 'shade'. I have been using the bottom end of plastic pop or water bottles to change the pattern. The RGB LEDs give it some 'motion' also. The effect is well worth the price of some "Goo-gone" to remove the label residue.
it's like an electric candle.
