The things we do backstage...
This self heating meal bought by Vince the crew-chief was very out of date, largely because of the bad timing of the pandemic.
The brown oily stuff was probably seasoned peppers, since it was very "spicy".

All right. welcome to my cluttered desk at work as we attempt to put this very out of date. Uh, it's self-eating meals. So what we've got.

we've got. uh, oil. Lots of oil. We've got, uh, this sort of like stuff which I think is also oily.

We've got the meal itself, we've got a metal tree, and underneath we've got uh, collectible chopsticks. Uh, we've got uh, dried tofu. and then we've got the heating pack underneath. So I'm just about to set this up.

Basically, we take this out of the packet we lay at the bottom. uh, fill it up with water just above that cold water, lay in the metal tree. and then all the food. theoretically Heats one moment please.

So this is the minute. Style So I'm gonna put that into the tree after snipping it, but it smells odd. but then it is. Chinese food.

It's noodles and stuff that's quite a collection of stuff. Uh, you'll have to refugu. I Take it. let's just gets put in the top for dry tofu.

It's very moist, but it's not molding which is good. I'll put that in there I could have actually sent that uh, vent to autofocus so it did it all for you. but I usually go flexible. So what's this? Yeah, that goes in, that's dark.

It is dark. Oh, it's not coming out very well. I'll use these hygienic scissors. and then there's the oil, which is just tons of oil apparently put in here.

Oh, picture is aisle. quite a lot of oil and then you just drizzle all over it if that'll be sugar to try and spread about, then we get the I Heard that? Fort My bad idea just to Mush it up and break up a bit. Does it look appetizing yet? So now I need this bit here and we've got the heat pack which is full of differing metals and salt circles in there and then we cover it with water. Apparently this is the bit that sometimes filled in the MREs the neural routine to eat so it should still come up into that and it should start reacting, but sometimes it takes a bit before it does it.

You're not supposed to do this by the way, but I'm doing it and then this goes in here. Then this goes on like that and then we wait until it's done. So this thing is steaming already really quickly. It's like within seconds it started gushing steam out.

If I hold my hat behind us, you'll be able to see the steam blowing at the top of that. That is quite impressive, right? Okay, one moment please. So the meal is now cooked and uh, I'm just gonna open up here and try not to get scalded. It's gone.

very soft. Oh, that's just that part. Yes, hello. Definitely.

I'll just put some levels away. Um, right. So are we supposed to stir it? Where's the meat? I Thought you said this was going to be beefy. There's that stuff there.

the beef. So uh, I'm not sure what the tofu is right. I'll try. uh I'll try.

if it tastes weird, it tastes like very oily Chinese Food like most. oh it's squid or something. Is it squid? It's the strips that oh it is. These strips are Up Fisher type sums.
it's awesome. I've just discovered the brown sauce extremely hot. It's been secretive. who likes pranking people with hot things? All right? Yeah, yeah.

I'm gonna have to avoid that brown stuff though. It's extremely hot. Hmm, what about a lot? Yes, right. like water chestnut.

it's perfectly edible even though it's very much how to do. I mean obviously not later when I'm pooping my gut now. But yeah, very edible. That just leaves us the other one to try.

So there we go. Let's take one more. please. No I can't see one more.

Yeah, there are no more moments. Say it. no. I'm looking at it on camera as well.

Could have been nicer with the addition of the strawberry laces… This had me yearning for my once favourite Chinese bar snack – duck neck pieces.

Did you check the individual bits of food for injection molding seams? That tofu looked like some sort of epoxy putty. I'm curious how it tasted, but not enough to brave trying it myself.

The tofu is whatever you want it to be. e.g. beef, chicken, kangaroo or maybe what it says on the packet.
