I quite like LED signage, and have made a lot of random prototypes of signs panels in the past. The simplest are the base 5 x 7 style array of LEDs on a PCB hard-wired to a single character.
One moment please…

Light fire on surface of processors dark material, would make it breakable.
PIGGY BACK, not just my nerves but all circuit boards of all matrix, satcoms and all whatever they can find!!!
you got the pcb files for these?
Whilst I easily figured out the reason for using the letter 'R' on the bigger matrix panel, I'm still curious as to whether the colours on the first panel were either (a) to simply to demonstrate different colour LEDs, (b) due to a shortage of components or (c) some other purpose that I haven't figured out.
I just realized, you have an "R", and "A" and a "T". You wouldn't happen to have an "F" matrix anywhere, would you?
R Glagow Rangers, ha ha.
You can still use it on DC, only a half of the bridge rectifier is not in use.
R for arrrrrr because your a pirate!
Clive I love your videos, learning so much and funny too. Can you please give me your opinion on the massive increase in LED street lighting, any good or a ticking time bomb of reliability issues? Thank you.
For the fun of it I just typed 01416499995 in google. Second Link was funny ๐

R would make a good test letter as it has both curves and diagonals, both of which you would need to check work and look okay. Can't think of any other letters that have both except "Q" and I'm not sure that's as common as R…
Is anyone else gettin' goosebumps from that pen? ๐
"R" for resistance? Like in resistors.
Because soldering many LEDs is "R'd work"? ๐
(that or something to do with the Rabbit phone system)
