When I saw this I thought it was going to be the usual construction for these things, but it's got a new and novel twist that makes it thinner and lighter than others.
Note that it just provides a wash of light. It's not aimable.
With a set of good alkaline cells (4.5v) the initial current will be:-
High 600mA, low 150mA, flashing 300mA
With a set of nickel metal hydride batteries (3.6V) the current will be:-
High 300mA, low 75mA, flashing 150mA
I'd recommend nickel metal hydride rechargeable cells.
Cheap 300mAh cells will give a run time of 4 hours on the low setting per charge.
Better cells will give a run time of around 10 hours on the low setting per charge.
Light intensity will tail off instead of just going out suddenly as with some lithium powered lights. That avoids being left in the dark unexpectedly.
This would be excellent as a backup light.

I'll bet that 300C temperature spec is for soldering. I've seen that in a bunch of datasheets, usually with some time constraint attached to it…

Great value. I've bought a few over the years. Nice and slim too, to bring in a bicycle toolkit bag for fixing punctures in the dark.

I got one of these today. I put in a small square 500nAh lithium cell I took out of a broken ear bud charger case and a T4056 type C board. Its bright enough, fast to charge and very useful. Not bad for ยฃ2 plus recycled bits.

The high, medium, low brightness settings are good to have but the strobe and SOS function really annoy me.
If they were on a separate switch I could accept it but I don't even know why they have this option on the many LED torches I have bought.

I don't get why so many of these LED lights have this useless and annoying strobe mode that you have to go through in order to turn it off. I mean why would you ever use that? Unless maybe when you are the DJ in a club.
