Some really great new strings of LED lights for Xmas 2015 from Poundland. The most notable feature of these is that they are not gluing the caps on, so it's easy to mix and match as desired. they also fit the existing 20 LED strings of 5mm diameter LEDs being sold in the Halloween range. The purple in particular looks amazing.
The crackle caps do look like they are based on a standard 18mm diameter acrylic bead available on ebay in various diameters. I've ordered some mixed colour ones in 16mm diameter to see how well they drill-out for fitting on LEDs.

Connected twelve 9-Volt batteries in series and the bulb still flickered but only on one side – as expected.
Accidentally broke one. Smelled ammonia. Flame-shaped electrodes soon oxidized from black to a whitish gray!

Poundland in the Isle of Man has to place two orders of lights every Halloween and Christmas. The first order just stays in the shipping boxes and BigClive picks them up off the receiving dock at the store. LOL This year he'll just bribe the lorry driver to make a "detour" to his house prior to making the delivery. 🙂
WOW yours agree way better than ours! I only can get strings of ten and your battery boxes are nicer too….ours are cheap clear flexible plastic that require a screw to open and close n change the batteries…n the battery tabs don't lock in the battery compartment properly and are always popping out…n we only get blue at Christmas time and white the rest of the year with stupid butterfly, Dragon fly, bugs and other random dumb shapes that get torn off…I'd pass out if I could get a string of 20 for a dollar!
It took my dumb American brain like 6 months to get what poundland is! It's just like a dollar store or even better- $.99 store!
