Two more "vehicle molecular de-icers" - one with a high tech flashing LED feature.
If you've been caught out by this scam then be aware that if you paid by card on a rogue site then it's worth securing your card.
If you bought one on eBay you can open up a dispute (Item not as described).
Initially they may offer you a 50% refund to fob you off. It's up to you if you accept that.
Do not close the dispute until it has been resolved - even if they ask you to.
The reason you will see a lot of adverts for these on sites like Facebook and X is because the scammers do a hard mass-hit to make as much money as possible before people get wise to the scam.
I'm almost excited to see what they'll come up with next.
Remember - if it seems too good to be true then it probably is.

Another pair of electromagnetic vehicle molecular interference and defreeze snow removal instruments have arrived from eBay. So I thought I'd take a look at them. Now these ones are all branded up properly with Ray Hong I'm not sure if EBD is just copying that that brand or if it's just one company that's reboxing these devices with a false implication that they do what they do, but if R Hong is a person I'd like to say that Rong is a douchebag. Let's take a look at what's inside.

So here is the super duper cartridge and here is the device. and this one doesn't even have a solar panel. This is the cheapest of the cheap. I don't even know how this is supposed to come apart.

How' you put the aroma thing in? Does it unscrew? Is it supposed to pop off? How does this come off? Maybe I'm doing it wrong. Let's take a look at the aroma thing in case you've not worked it out. These things M Chemical. Aroma Uh, these things are just basically a scam.

They're and defrosters There It goes. There we go. that's it. Ready to defrost your vehicle.

Uh, loud click. And the brand on this is Carmate, which it's just a standard air fresher that's been rebadged and the price hiked up. Okay, this one is more sophisticated. This one is much more sophisticated because they've actually rebranded something electronic.

So if I open this one, inside is a sticky pad for attaching it to your dashboard that's going to Mar it for life. And then this little device. And it does have a solar panel on top. Wonder if it's actually real and connected? It has a USB port and it has a switch and when it's dark I guess Am I going able to make this do anything? Oh there it goes.

Did you see the we flash of light? It'll do it every so often. This is a fake car alarm I wonder if it's got an LED the other side as well as well. Uh I Think it does have an LED the other side but it was just tucked around the side. Let's open this.

I'm just going to grab a screwdriver and we'll open it. but uh, it is just basically it's a car alarm that's been reemed one moment. Here we go. It does have a real solar panel and it has a solar garden light chip inside it complete with a little nickel metal hydride cell.

and it's a got a YX 861a chip which is a standard solar lighting chip that is programmed to just blink a single LED at one end. So what this does. at night time, it charges up in the sunlight during the day if there is sunlight or via this USB port and I'm going to guess that might just be a resistor because there's nothing else to really regulate the charge. There's no easy way to control the charge of nickal hydride.

it is probably just current limited. um, but the device just attacks when it's Dusk and it starts flashing the LED and well it's got a flashing LED Therefore, it must be a molecular deiser. So there we have it. I might actually make a video about this unit I've made a video about one before I'll check and see if this one is any different and if it is then I could make a video just about this device.
Nice simple single-sided circuit board and a very chunky thick glass solar panel. Um, but there we have it. Uh, they are not molecular deers. one is an air freshener which is now minging of a of Flur smell and the other is just a fake car alarm that just blinks an LED.

That super duper aroma thing looked suspiciously like a prophylactic… with thorium oxide for the extra long-lasting de-icing energy.

I'm surprised they aren't just trying to sell stickers that claim to de-ice your windshield, like those stickers that claimed to increase your cellphone signal.

The best de-icer I have is my remote starter + defrosters. Not the best I've ever used (if you consider a garage or manually scraping with an ice scraper, heated ice scraper or using a heat gun to melt the ice/snow), but it does work as long as its not too frigid outside. If it is very frigid outside, I remote start with defroster heat on max for a max cycle (20 minutes), then I go out and spray some of the de-icing spray and run the wipers just before driving off. Whoever sells those molecular de-icers, especially those that are really air fresheners or glorified blinking LEDs should be sued for intentional false advertisement.

I also have a de icer, its called a car port, and my truck rarely gets shut off during inclement weather, and I'm out and about. I also carry a snow brush with an ice scraper on it if i am staying in one place… very high tech product that is, a brush, with a plastic scraper on the other end. Lol Welcome to canada.

@BigClive while you are on a roll calling out the scammers have you seen the huge array of ‘miniature CPAP’ devices being advertised all around for prices from £6 ~ £30

As a sleep apnea sufferer I use a genuine NHS provided CPAP machine .
But it’s a substantial 240v machine that is a pain in the arse to travel with ( particularly with Ryanair who have a lengthy application process to take it on board)
So like many the idea of a pocket sized version appeals to me.
The rogue CPAP devices appear to come in various forms-
All essentially a small device with 2 nozzles that are stuck up the nostrils – the device sitting on the top lip like a moustache.
some are totally empty plastic cases with big claims in the packaging/literature
Some have a usb port and probably some fake circuits

I think you’d find them interesting

What pisses me off is that I am getting ads for these pieces of shit from YouTube every day. However when I try to report the ad for being fraudulent the process is so convoluted I give up. YouTube either doesn’t know or more realistically doesn’t care as they are getting revenue from these fake companies.

It is always amazing that this part is bought en masse and that people really believe that it works. But the funny thing is that the return costs exceed everything and so the dealer makes 100% profit.

Somehow you get the feeling that many adults today didn't pay attention in first grade. In general, I think that many people no longer have a basic technical knowledge.

And the better the advertising, the more people buy it. Best of all, it still says Sale -50% here many people seem to have switched off their brains.

I think it's great that you're looking at these things and exposing the fraud that is being perpetrated with ignorance.

By the way, I have a great de-icer in the car. The parking heater in an electric car is worth its weight in gold. It's totally warm and defrosted all around within 5 minutes.
