Not gonna lie - this was actually a very clever fix until they can get the light fixed or replaced.
Personally I'd have lifted a tile and disconnected it, but this is an easy fix for the non technically inclined.

I know this seems stupid or whatever but the employees don’t have the agency to make a electrical company come out faster and the fact they actually thought of this and did something about it is way better than anything ive ever seen anyone do at other businesses.

I worked at one in the US. Probably the employees aren’t allowed to fix it, or don’t have a ballast or bulb and have no help in finding one, don’t have time to fix it (those who would) and everyone else is just too lazy.
