One day I'll find an older version of this type of unit that has the original circuitry.
It dates back a long way to when the first versions were made with discrete transistors and capacitors.
The schematic is just a rough doodle. It isn't a suggested circuit, as it would require a bit of experimentation with component values to find the sweet spot.
While the blob chips do reduce manufacturing costs significantly (it's a bare chip bonded to the PCB), it also takes some of the magic out of reverse engineering something like this.

I have a lucky cat I bought in NYC, but the two wires connecting the battery to the circuit board came loose and because I am very bad at engineering, I need help knowing where on the circuit board to solder my black and red wire to make the kitty work again. Help?

why dont you try to remove the blob. Maybe you are lucky to see/recognise at least some parts of the circuit inside it.

I must say I am amazed that there have not been any English speaking designers from shen-zen province,to contact big Clive, you have to know they are viewing, I was in invited once to travel to a toy manufacturer there, I'm still kicking my self for not accepting.
With the addition of a flickering LED and the arm replaced with a flame shaped piece of plastic, that's very similar to how those flickering candles work.

I would get these for my ex to decorate her car. The ones I've found are just a coil and solar panel. I think there may have been a capacitor in the loop, but I genuinely do not believe it was anything beyond the panel and coil… Is my memory deceiving me in some way perhaps? It sounded like you said there was one that was just a coil, but I wasn't certain if that's quite what you meant…
