The full size version of the teardown video including dremeling the case open and more discussion about the construction.
These batteries use a lithium cell and buck converter to give out a steady 1.5V for most of their discharge, dropping deliberately to around 1V at the end to trigger battery warning systems.
They are the equivalent to a 2000mAh rechargeable AA cell and can supply up to 2A, although they do get hot at high current and may cut in and out thermally.
They seem to charge at 5V via the same contacts.

    Where are these from?
Unfortunately I have have to use 1.5V batteries in my stupid wireless mouse, it only works for a day or two with a NiMh

My Jugee batteries have bright LED lights at the tip. When I first got them, the LED's would always flash. Eventually, I found out that means there is not enough power to charge the batteries. I had to use a stronger USB charger for it to work properly. They are not so good on high drain flashlights. The eneloop batteries make my small flashlight slightly brighter than a 1.5 volt battery, energizer or duracell. These don't last as long as the Nickel Metal Hydride batteries. My 14500 does make the light brighter, but doesn't quite last as long as Nickel Metal Hydride. So I've actually come to prefer the NMH batteries for me flashlights, except for the bigger ones. I use the 21700 Tesla batteries, that I got off ebay, where they pulled them from an old Tesla battery pack. But I've had computer and tool battery packs fail, so I pull those apart and use the 18650 batteries too.

Hon, we love you. Your willingness to do dumb shit for our entertainment, is commendable. That you also know all the electric goodness behind it? Much love. Sending love to you from Baltimore!

Hmm, my issue at this moment seems like it might be self-discharge rate? I'd left two in a Gameboy Advance, which I don't think should have issues with parasitic drain? And then, even the two I left in the charger/case, all are outputting 0 Volts. But, I'm not sure if they're taking a charge, as the LEDs are solid, though the charger does seem to be outputting between 4.3 to 5.0 volts, and I think at least one, maybe two of the cells have slightly warmed up.

Ultimately, I'm wondering if these are somehow already past their useful life, though I've barely actually gotten any use out of them. Would be a shame, considering how expensive they are. I only purchased them specifically for use with my modded GBA. (Overkill, probably, especially when I already have a small collection of Eneloop and LADA cells, but eh… They sound really neat on paper!)

I think it's meant to be Called "Juji" but ended up as "JUGEE"

I wonder how the EBL's 1.5v rechargables compare to JUGEE's. My EBLs don't seem to drop their voltage down before the battery dies, leading to my controllers not giving me any low battery warning.

There's even more going on than just voltage and current regulation.. If the USB power supply doesn't have the full 3A available and you are trying to charge all 4 of them, they form a charging queue with the available current supply.

Why not use a mini pipe cutter?

Wonder how safe it is to have that type of lithium foil battery shoved in a metal tube. Those type seem to like to expand over time , just look at how old cell phone batteries bulge up and sometimes pop the screen up on the cell phones . Lol great video 🙂

Brilliant! Now the question: can I solder one of these suckers into my electric toothbrush? I totally hate the fluctuation in speed I get from my e-brush, being somewhere between "worse than manual" shortly before the low battery warning and "brush go BRRRRRRRRRRR" when fresh off the charger. And I always wondered how to pop in a Li-cell or other voltage stabilized circuit. This might be it.

You and me both, buddy…. I used to work on cell phones a few years back, when they were held together by tiny Torx fasteners, but I don't have the patience to deal with the fiddly bullcrap that's required to disassemble/reassemble them today.
The manufacturers COULD still be using screws to put them together today, and retain the water resistance that the products now have, but they just WANT it to be difficult for anyone to be able work on them. 😠

I wondered if immersing the resin in the Jugee into an index of refraction matching fluid might make it “disappear”? Kind of like how mixtures of high index of refraction fluids can make diamond invisible when immersed? Although it looks like it has a glass powder added. 🎉luckily you got the pieces separated🎉
