Mine (otherwise identical unit) contains no board for the switch and resistor, but a nameless tiny potted ic(it says ic on the board) in series with the led. Is there a built in ic in a standard flickering led?
Bit of a late reaction, but if anyone is interested: they run for 6+ months on alkaline batteries. They will keep going after that, but they get so dim you can't really see them unless it us completely dark. So I usually replace them twice a year. Not bad I think. On zinc carbon batteries they only last about two to three months.
the batteries would last ages. i recently had four flat D cell batteries i had in my maglite. i had a white led and a few resistors. the led has been on the cells since april the second this year. the led is still bright and going strong. i also had two AAA batteries (flat). they have also been going since april the second. the led is still illuminated but very very dim.
where can I buy this candle but in White?
Red light in Catholic churches means that God is in residence. The red may be related to that… still not sure why red in particular though.

Dont you worry about battery life of that electronic grave candle, it will be stolen from the grave before batteries manage to die 🙂
The frigging local council has banned all of these grave lights.
C cell batteries, the bastard stepchild of AA and D cells.

looks like you put it in upside down, the gold bit goes at the bottom , the candle fits in the otherway up ,
Oh, silly people, you're not fooling spirits with this thing :))
Every local graveyard I've seen has banned these lights.
If you fitted a Joule Thief you could power your Grave Candle with a dead battery. I'll get my coat.
Red is the colour of mourning in some cultures, India for example.
