You can get clone keyfob remotes for older vehicles quite easily on eBay. Here's a look inside one with a staggeringly low component count. The single chip approach appears to be a versatile microcontroller designed almost exclusively for keyfobs and other low level transmitting applications.

Really Helpful Video thanks
Hello I just got my key fobs today but Iโm turning the ignition off and on for 8 times ending on position 2 but door locks not doing anything do you think I should try another key in the ignition not sure if itโs the master key Iโm using.
Would hat to get stuck in lift with this man make the mistake of saying my key fob is not working
I have one of these for repairs but it is the original version which has the centre cap on the antenna like in the diagram from silicon labs. The centre antenna cap has been lost. For a quick fix does anyone here know the value of that capacitor? I cannot find info about the chip though from my research it might be a 2pF or 1.5pF any help ?
Thanks
p.s. Bigclive your channel is awesome !!!
what is the blue trunk button doing?
ok great video but I know if you have two keys and you need three or more you can cycle the 1 good key once and then the other good key once then the new key and it will program it
but if you loose all but one key you have to have it program it take 10 mins with the right scan tool to start to get in to the program just to program the key and you have to have at lease two keys to do it and your right you do not need a key fob to start if you lost all of them you can program them just like you said โฆ thank you
Top tip: Do the same trick only 5 times instead of 8 to pair a key keyfob to a Volvo 850.
I got one of those eBay remotes and it worked brilliant….. for about a week!
You're a star, did the ignition trick and I've got my key fob back, thankyou.
Huh… last time I had to replace a fob for the car (granted it was a VW Golf not a Ford Transit), I switched the gubbins over to the new fob and I couldn't work out why the key wouldn't work, even more concerning it still wouldn't work when I switched it back to the old fob, I got irate at this point, so the other half googled it and discovered it has a tiny little thing the size of a grain of rice which was apparently loose in the fob which obviously fell out when when I opened it up (someone might be forgiven for thinking they don't want you buying and fixing your own keys), after we searched the floor and found it the new casing worked a treat… I was hoping you were going to explain said tiny loose doodad, I assume it's how the car recognises the key but how does it work given it's' the size of a grain of rice, loose and not physically connected to any kind of power source? Does it have a some sort of tiny kinetic battery like some watches? Does it use the field produced by the key's electronics/battery? ๐
I have bought a same from AliExpress. But the chip is different from my old remotes chip. If I place the chip from old remote to new one would it work?
