Small smear of white grease on the end of the thread ( so it only is spread at the last turn or two of the steel inner mount) will help a lot to make the unit run cooler. the mounting looks like it is designed to fit the 2 screws of a standard round junction box, so you probably could pop the power supply in the junction if you get a round extension box and mount it to the existing one. Much easier of course if the wall is drywall, or if you are building and just have the extra box added with the plastering.
