A 10 ohm quarter watt resistor is wrapped round a smoke match (used for checking air flow). When 12V is applied across the resistor it burns out and ignites the smoke match.
(Note the use of a traditional quarter watt, 10 ohm carbon film resistor. These burn better than metal film ones.)
