My father once brought a bottle of Polish pure spirit about 60 years ago called 'gold wasser' (gold water) with gold pieces on the bottom , so its been around some time.

Be very careful some of the stuff sold as gold leaf has no gold in it, its a copper alloy known as dutch metal and is definitely not good.
Gold will stick and biuld up on your bones and cause a severe bone malfunctions.
