At first glance this looks quite a pleasing light, but its output is very low for the power consumed. This is due to the glass lens being mounted in an aluminium front with a very small hole for the light from the LED to shine through. More for decorative effect than as a useful lightsource.

I actually think it makes a change to find a led light that gives out such a small amount of light. For instance, i have some G4 fittings that i have 5w halogen lamps in, i would love to upgrade to led, but i cannot find any led lamp that will give out the same soft light, all the leds i have tried have been way too bright for the location. I find that problem a lot when i want a nice soft dim light in a table lamp, a few choices with the old incandescent lamps (plus of course you could dim them), but finding led lamps with a similar light output is difficult.
I'm with a lot of other people, please modify it to get the max light out! 😀

perhaps the light source is not flush so it bounces around inside the internal chamber and comes out through the hole in a more diffused pattern to illuminate the diamondy thing better.
Could you put an acrylic glass cylinder in that empty space? That would increase the efficiency, I think. Maybe even some good transparent silicone would do the job.
I was thinking of sanding down the outer threaded casing, this would allow the LED to protrude into the hole on the lens portion.
+bigclivedotcom what do you recommend if I wanted to get rid of the CC drivers on 11 of these and replace with a single 12V supply? I could, say, run multiple series chains of 4 (I'm guessing about a 3v drop on each?) but that still leaves me with an odd set of 3 !

Can you shim beneath the led/pcb to raise it too its highest point??
You see lights like this very commonly on Ocean Liners or Cruise Ships. More for decor than actual light.
