This is a fairly cheap automatic fish feeder bought on ebay. It has a detachable drum that is filled with fish food and you set a switch at the back for either 12 hour or 24 hour cycles. When it is time to dispense the fish food the drum rotates a single turn. As it turns some of the food falls into an adjustable port at the side of the drum and is then dumped into the water.
Standby current is about 0.25mA (250uA) which should give a good battery life.
The plastic gears are very noisy when it does rotate, but I guess that could be useful for letting you know it's doing it's job.
The unit comes with velcro pads and a clamp system for mounting it to your tank.
I don't actually have a fish tank. The reason I bought this was to evaluate it for use in a public art project, part of which involved the daily dumping of a small amount of glitter on a pedestrian walkway.

I bought one recently. Awesome stuff for damn cheap price. Adjust the amount to feed on the dispenser outlet. Most appropriate amount dispense, adjust to 2nd level. I feed on the 12hrs rotation option.

How long will we replace the batteries? It has no information about the consumption so I can't even calculate the duration base on 2 AA Batteries capacity. Thanks a lot!

Manually operating it does not change the preset time. The feeder can be preset to the time – when u put on the batteries or when u toggle 12h/24h. Only problem is the erratic feeding amount. I put a tape inside to close half the opening to control over feeding. One more thing is the battery compartment is a bit tough to open.

I have had the same question about the timing, so I have it sitting on a bowl and am watching for it to turn.  I put it on 12 hours so I won't have to be awake all night.  I'll let you know the results later.

Hello, sorry for bothering but I have a question. I have this feeder since a couple of weeks and I cannot figure out how to set the time of the feeding. I guess it is somehow regulated by the moment I put the batteries in, however I can't understand it and nothing about it is written on the manual. Maybe you can help out?

I'll be honest, I don't know a damn thing of what you are talking about but I find any video you make so interesting that it doesn't matter.
