Given how hard sparklers are to light at the best of times, I didn't hold out much hope of being able to light one with a 10 ohm resistor being smoked deliberately with 12V. But it worked!
(Note the use of a traditional quarter watt, 10 ohm carbon film resistor. These burn better than metal film ones.)
