This is a look at the inside of some common Chinese lights that are designed to plug into a USB port, power supply or power bank and be used for local illumination. When used with a portable USB power bank they make a very bright flashlight.
They all use a standard 1W LED (run at less than half a watt), with one model using the bare LED on a PCB while the bulk used a standard Luxeon Star type LED which is easily swapped for a different colour if desired. The resistor values varied between 100 ohm to 180 ohm giving a current range of between 100 to 150mA.

What are they called? What would i type in my search bar?
This video is upside down lol (from a new subcriber working backwards into old vids)
I've used a couple of these USB LED units on different power banks and they all seem to work rather well. It's a great way of making a cheap usable and versatile flashlight. The power bank looks after the battery and so when you go to the flashlight it's still works rather than always being dead with old fashioned incandescent flashlights and crap batteries.
I really like these little USB lights & gadgets…I blame this channel for that lol!
Anyway, just got a few of these. It's interesting to see just how long this design has been around. I suppose if it ain't broke don't fix it
I got some tiny usblights with onboard led chips – very bright but crash computers 🙂
From the title, I initially thought that at some point in time, the USB power bank will go bang and hence you sarcastically wrote; "Neat little USB powered lights that can turn a USB power bank into a flashlight."…
I could use a handful of these. I have many power banks. I've made a few lights but I like these little ones. My latest one was formerly a bike light.
do you have a link or description for these ?
Why not just buy a cheap flashlight?
I wonder do some manufacturers put switch mode ps 5->3,3V instead of resistor? it is more efficient but the price will be unworthy….
great voice ! btw review also
Nice video, I like your videos a lot, I have tried to make USB flash light for my Yoobao 5600mah powerbank, but my power bank auto powers off… it has a builtin circuit which makes it auto turn off after 5 secs if it does not detects any cellphone.. please give me some solution for this problem… how can i stop this auto turn off so my usb flashlight can stay on..
