I like to check out the build quality of anything I'm actually going to use, so this is a look inside a 12V DC 1.5A voltage regulated supply intended for driving LEDs, but also suitable for other 12V applications.
So far it appears the build quality is good, although I'd have to disassemble the transformer to really know what level of insulation there is between the primary and secondary windings. It looks like a well insulated heavy winding.
I thought I might have damaged the transformer while attempting to cut some of the outer tape off, but a test afterwards showed it was still working fine.

Is there any way you'd be able to do a shortish tutorial on making a decent power supply? Given how many bad ones you've reviewed, I think I'd rather make my own than gamble on the ones available for purchase. Even just knowing how to tell the difference between a good and a bad one would be extremely valuable.
Wondered if one of these could replace a portable radios internal PSU board that's broke(no power) could add a bigger smoothing capacitor as it's feeding audio circuits.
Hey BC, finally a descent power supply & then no links & then there's no schematic as well. WOW!!! What's the world coming to when we can't get Big Clive's brain poured out on paper for us. Oh well, it was a nice power supply for a change though, but really would have loved that wire diagram to go along with it. Anyway thanks for that knowledge you gave us, Tom.
thanks to you I just bought 100pcs TL431ACL $3 USD I will try all the circuits in the data sheet
Couldn't find that actual app SwissArmyKnife app on GooglePlay only similar ones , but I did find it on a web site. Must try it out 🙂
Swiss charges
Open 1/2 amp
Under court injunction LOL
Awesome app. May get me off the Apple tree. Thank you.
Show more like this.
That TL431 is a bit of electronic jewelry. The applications of that thing are so numerous I'd call it the next best thing after sliced bread.
I'm wondering why you don't use that app on newer videos?
do you have best place where I can get any MOSFET a1693 as one of mine in amp as shorted I have checked other ones and only one as gone.
Good day
have you ever spotted a fuse with the windings of these transformers?
As usual very interesting, I've learnt more about electronics and components and how they work by watching you, than by any other source. You have to open the other power supplies.
tear them all to bits we want to see If any of them are "shit"(by your terminology) and if they don't get the "clive seal of approval"
