While changing the battery in my car key I noticed that it was different from others featured in different video's. So here's how the battery is changed in this particular style. Note that the newer versions seem to have a simpler contact arrangement and the battery goes in the other way up.
The type of cell used is a lithium CR2032 which fortunately happens to be a very common cell. You can get them from most electronic suppliers, online and even some pound/dollar stores.

How do I pair the remote to the car again?
Hello
I have a fabia 2003 and i need to have the oem number of this key .any help please ?
Bought a Mark 1 Fabia with these keys and within a week the battery for the key died! Thanks!
My key doesn't work, and i think because there is no green paper information disk in it. Do you know if i can replace this?
Good vid and very well presented
Followed this and took my 14 year old Leon mk1 key aparta Dan cleaned it out and it’s now working like new without needing a new battery.
Do you know how to sync the car key with the car?
Many thanks, was stuck without your video.

SImple and full of practical tips 🙂 thanks!
Very helpful. Thanks!! It´s the same for seat and vw
Hey @bigclivedotcom,
Thanks for video. I am watching your videos for quite a while now… I am looking to extend the range of the key. Is it possible to be done with for example putting 2x CR2016 instead of one CR2032? And what are the consequences of raising the voltage to key parts? Is it possible that high voltage damadge sensitive electronics inside the key? Or maybe it is not so sensitive at all?
Thanks in advance…
Thanks for this video.
Very helpful took less than 2 minutes after watching the tutorial.
Hey,Clive! you are great! My was glued, didn't want to use too much force until I saw how you did.
Great!
This is very helpful. I have practically the same sort of key for my Seat. (Skoda, Seat, … It is all Volkswagen, anyway). Now I know what I can expect and how to safely exchange the battery. Thank you, sir!
