While on a trip to Glasgow I popped into a favourite shop (B M Homestores) and they had some neat fibre optic illuminated snow scene pictures left over from their Xmas stock.
I thought it would be interesting to open one and see how it's made.

A colour changing LED would look nice 🙂 or a Tri-Colour LED with 3 pots to make your own colour 😉 My picture has that nasty soft wood on back which I had to nail back down after I re-LED'd it. B&M obviously had a major pricing fault cos mine was labelled for about £14.99 but at the till scanned as £5, there was no indication they were on offer lol. I like the scene on your picture. You could use more fibre optic and LED's to make a "meteor" effect hanging off the trees in it 😀

OK.. split up the fibres in 2 bunches and attatch 2 of those rgb-slow changing leds….

In the unlikely event that nobody's already commented on this: you can squeeze the metal tab on the CR2032 holder and it will release the battery.

Pulled something similar from a dumpster a few weeks back. It used three very warm white LEDs in parallel as simple backlights, with the same yellow and whites leads as here complete with the cut-off ends. No series resistor but the LEDs have what looks like a resistor in the package along with the LED die, which is very offset as a result.

Dear Mr Clive, would you be able to do more experiments involving vegetables? I was watching some classic Clive this morning and couldn't stop laughing at the potato. Maybe you could try cook a sausage using the power or 230v?

I am dissapointed he didn't "hack" the picture by replacing the cold white led with a warm white one

construction was probably done pushing the fibres from the back with the picture face down on a hot plate… melting the fibre ends before hot gluing them in place

Why is this so exciting for you?
