Physically this light looks and feels quite nice. The way the driver is mounted is unusual and minimalist.
While I wouldn't recommend this in its original form, it has potential as a source of an interesting case for your own lighting project.

The same search on eBay UK shows a wide price range from £9 upwards.

It worries me a little to see that fake ground, I wonder how many products I currently use are built that way, some of them used in damp environments.

The biggest mystery here is how they manage to sell such items with chopped-off earth cables in the UK and other countries that have strict safety laws. The one thing I've learnt by watching many of Clive's videos is not to trust anything bought on eBay – either buy it from a reputable UK based shop or at least do my own safety checks first before plugging it in.

is it just me or is the way he says “chips” satisfying

Hi, nice teardown. It is actually possible to have a circuit like this work safely without (protective) earth. The double rectangle icon on the power supply means it is double isolated (Class II) and earth is not needed. But I highly doubt if the correct creepage, clearance distances and solid insulations are used, especially around the LED.

To add another note, the amount of cable they give you is insane… US 6-8 inches available to stick out of a junction box… that thing only has 6-8 inches to make it TO A JUNCTION BOX

Is this a light that provides shade?

My 100w ultrasonic cleaner came with a 10amp glass fuse that i only noticed when it blew up and took my socket & lighting trip switches with it. Now repaired have replaced with 1 amp fuse and made sure its properly earthed.

This has what looks like the tastiest power supply I have ever seen.

Ground. In America we call the "earth" wire a "ground wire"
