Poundland has had USB powered LED tape in the past, but this new version has an inline PIR sensor with standard power jacks on either side.
The bit that really caught my attention was the wide voltage range of the sensor, making it suitable for 5V, 12V and 24V applications.
Here's a link to a datasheet for the unusual BS612 integrated PIR sensor:-

Although everything is integrated into a 6-pin PIR package, it still allows adjustment of the dusk level and time delay.
If you enjoy these videos you can help support the channel with a dollar for coffee, cookies and random gadgets for disassembly at:-

This also keeps the channel independent of YouTube's advertising algorithms allowing it to be a bit more dangerous and naughty.

Hi Clive. I have one of these & it was working fine… until I decided to hardwire it to a white USB cable, as the black one was a bit obvious & unattractive. Anyway, it now lights up, but never turns off. What on earth have I done? 🤔

I tested the light sensor & it seems to be working fine, according to the voltages in light & dark.

    Any ideas? 🤔

BigClive, learnt some thing new today, the big number on the back represents the how many pounds item, lmao, never knew this before. thank you 😀

I love learning something new, even if some of it went over my head 😂. I was looking at this little device and wondered if it would be rubbish but after listening to you I am filled with confidence…well done👍🤗😁

It's 2 years later now, but on Aliexpress you'd now get a pack of ten BS612 for less than 10 GPB.

It's videos like this that got me keen on perusing the various $ shops in the area (and when I travel as well), alongside your video of your "ghost repelling off-grid device" and your statement about how sometimes buying the solar powered stuff at the $ shop have a much higher value due to not being able to get those components elsewhere! That got me thinking about the battery holders and how one can buy them from Amazon, sure, but being that I get a small string of LEDs AND a battery holder is worth more to me than the device as is.

Not sure what you are on about, but I have one of these and it never turns off.

I instantly thought of how useful that PIR module would be when I saw these in Dealz. Just bought one this morning but sadly, seems to be a dud. The strip lights when plugged in at first but then switch off and never light again, motion or not! Seeing some hairy looking solder joints though so might reflow it and see. Either way, for the price, this kit is a true bargain.

I wanna ask a dumb question that’s beneath your pay grade:
Does this only work when it’s plugged in?

    Thanks

I covered the LDR with black tape to make it come on in the half-light of a dark hallway and it works great; this could probably be tweaked with different transparent tapes.

I'd like a setup like this to work in daylight also, maybe attach a 5v buzzer, can you recommend anything ?

Could these be run from a solar panel?
