Nice night light, but certain things had to be tested...
It turns out that it's quite hard to make the suspect resistor emit smoke, and the electrolytic capacitor pop when you abuse it.
Obviously I could have MADE it go bang if I had applied malice, but I wanted to test the real life failure scenario of the LED circuit going open circuit.
After making the video I added a zener diode and new 1 Megohm resistor with much higher voltage rating. Estimated real power is just 0.2W as stated on the packaging.
If you enjoy these videos you can help support the channel with a dollar for coffee, cookies and random gadgets for disassembly at:-

This also keeps the channel independent of YouTube's advertising algorithms allowing it to be a bit more dangerous and naughty.

Nice ! What if a toddler comes forward and proceeds to suck one of the flowers?
Clever Chinese
At least the transistor blowing up saved the capacitor from going bang
mmmm slow cooked resistor, meal for 1
I donโt see why you donโt change the leds to colour changing leds.
Excellent video, as always. Your dedication in trying to blow these up is exceptional! Bit of a letdown, but through no fault of your own. Better luck next time…
What I really hate with ebay sellers is, just like what happened to me recently, I set the search to US sellers only, make a purchase, and the seller information shows some Chinese company name and I get a credit card alert to an international transaction. While I did get what I purchased, it seems like fraud to me to claim to be a US seller when they clearly aren't.
what is strange is the lamp.
pices of wood. this lamp.
what.?
switching power suply?
