I bought this in a shop in London's Chinatown last time I was there. Let's take it apart.

have you ever measured resistance of that incandescent bulb its 500 to 520 ohms ๐ they may read 5W but they are 100W 528 ohm bulb for 230V i sugest you to measuring those bulbs if you haven't measured yet be careful when buying fake chinese incandescent bulbs
Those wires are wrapped together with wire nuts
wao! as a Chinese, I like this lotus base. teardown many different kinds of them when I was a kid (the only toy for me are those elect stuff at home…no game no comic… sigh)
We took the walking tour of Chinatown in Manhattan, there was a lot of red and gold in the decorations and temples.
Kinda funny that you're not keen on the wirenuts. This is completely bog standard lamp construction as far as most lights in the US are concerned. At least the ones I've taken apart! Sometimes they'll use the little white crimp nuts, but twisting wirenuts are not at all uncommon.
Very pretty light though. Would be nicer if the socket was a bit lower so the bulb was better hidden in the pedals. I found a similar lamp but much larger with a standard Edison socket at the thrift store. It looks lovely with one of the animated LED flame bulbs put in!
the shop selling those was breaking the law
I like that BC pronounces it "restauwrong" like my siblings do but I don't, for whatever reason.

Just as helpful- the nut on the bottom where the cord comes in is what you want to begin with.
Yeah… I know. 5 days later. Power went down. ๐
I had to put together a shade for one of those lethal "touch the base" lamps that had three levels of illumination, each touch of the finger on the base making the light go brighter until it cycled off again. The whole shade had a similar construction whereby I had to fit some fairy complicated pieces of glass into the spot-welded frame and bend the tags over to hold them in place. Not a nice construction and if you went wrong the tags just snapped. Nasty piece of design work. The lamp failed after 6 months by the way :\
A Buddhist prayer lamp. Red is a very auspicious colour in China and Buddhism, hence the red lamps.
