I wondered how these LED filaments were configured inside, so I decided to explore one - using the splendid lamp X-ray device that AvE sent me.
The internal construction of the filament is odd and not quite what I expected.
The circuit is effectively 42 LEDs in series with a resistor in the base of the lamp. The filament can operate on either polarity due to the unusual rectifying system used.
Note that I inadvertently got the LED rectifier diodes wrong at one end. It was very late when I made the video. Originally I wanted to draw out the schematic, but ran out of time.
Here's a link to the video where AvE made the copper X-ray unit:-

This also keeps the channel independent of YouTube's advertising algorithms allowing it to be a bit more dangerous and naughty.

Tappy tap tap. Thwack! LMAO
I’m giving the clock kit a second try but where do I get the thing for prepping the pins on the rectangular clock chips?
I believe that in the Hew Hess Hay, they refer to yer Xray device as a small Tonya Harding.

PWoW-T – Percussive Wand of Wisdom Therapy, a remedial treatment when judicious application of the PWoW procedure leads to little or no wisdom gained; broadly involves thwacking unfortunate artifacts within arm's reach.
When the pandemic is over you are to do an in person video with AVE!
why a rusty old hammer could not do it and you need a fancy gold hammer?
lol, swing press, thats good
I love it — one of the few times that one gets to break light bulbs in a constructive manner, hahaha!!! 🙂
From comments I've overheard, it seems I do have a probe small enough. 🙁
I never knew that Widlarizer has also X-Ray mode..
A.K.A as the thumb or digits detector. 🙂 🙂
we need to start a fund to get Clive a Luis Rossman style camera microscope
What's the difference between a swing press and a thumb detector?
Not the brightest bulb today around Lunchtime …. what did AvE's swing press have to do with all this … Yess…..diodes.. LED or othewise…r.. one can so easily forget what all aadiode can be / do. An entetaining reminder r Slàinte
I was going to ask if Ave made that "swing press" for you, after seeing it in the thumbnail. but you answered my question rather quickly.
thanks .. must've taken 3 and half ages sketching up the filaments ❤️
Hope you were wearing your safety squints when you did thus 😉😂
