Here's a link to the original project on my vintage website, which I recently returned to its advert-free pre-Google glory.

Do you like the light fitting under my fan? It is the original monstrosity of Luminosity If you search the internet for luminosity and monstrosity, you will find how that was made.

I wish I had documented it, but I and a friend-girl (not a girlfriend, although I at some point wished) electrized an old chandelier.

I got bronze plumbing fittings (straight 1/2 to 1/2 in males and 1/2 in female to 10mm compression) where I could file a bit of the thread off of one of the 1/2 in male ends so that it fit in the candle socket snugly.

She had found frosty glass lamp covers at a flea market, that fit a certain brand's cucumber jar lids perfectly, so we drilled holes in the lids to fit over the intact male ends, and could screw the female-to-compression fitting over it, securing the lid on with large washers that had a 20mm hole. The washers were galvanized steel so they got a few layers of gold paint along with the outside of the lids.

I drilled the mounting threads out of E14 lamp holders with a 10mm bit so I could fit copper inserts for 12mm PEX through. The insert was glued on with CA and then snugged in the compression fitting. Gold colored cables were threaded thorugh the fork ornaments and into the lamp holders, and she now has it over their dining room table.

Another example of how electrical and plumbing components work together nicely with little modification.

Looks like the plastic ball has yellowed a bit. I would have concerns about it breaking from weakened plastic cuz photodegradation.
Which wouldn't be surprising, as I remember this from the emanator dot demon days.

Just saw the original project on your website, that’s cool and I like how you used compact flourescent lamps! I don’t like led.
