A look at, and taste test of a Canadian MRE military ration pack. This tasted pretty good except for the powdered fruit drink which had a strong chemical smell and taste reminiscent of the electrolyte found in lithium cells with a hint of TCP and not PCP as I inadvertently said. It's as if it was missing the fruit flavouring.

    PAIN HAMBURGER

Being a Hamiltonian I'd guess a fair percentage of the population here doesn't know that "pain" means bread… Students need only take one compulsory "second-language credit" in high school

I f****n swear google reads my private emails and then passes the info to youtube which makes 'relevant' video suggestions. One day I'm going to test this more thoroughly like send emails with dino names and stuff.

If a soldier still has all his standard equipment then a pan for heating water is already present, just have to get water and make a fire, which can be a bit more challenging depending on weather and surrounding natural resources 🙂 That is, at least in Finland all soldiers, or army men, get an aluminium container with a detachable lid that is for mixing and heating foods and drinks. I would think that would be standard in other countries as well.

That's another one we love in Canada. Franks Red Hot is the best. "We put that s*** on everything!" Also, out in the field, soldiers carry mess kits. Cheers 4 years younger Big Clive.

There is a brand of canned food hereabouts "Stagg" which produces tins of bean based meals. I'm surprised at just how much this MRE resembles the contents of these tins.

On the bread buns, I still do fill a bun with chunky soup, or "ADB" (all day breakfast) Full Monty etc. It's a good way to turn a snack into a meal.

Clive, I think they expect you to use the carboard packaging to get a fire going with twigs to heat you army food tray/dish ….. that is what troops do/

I live in Canada and heard the new guy they brought in to try and fix up the MRE meals. He said the previous meal that had a ham omelet was referred to as "Lung in a Bag", most requested thing was hot sauce and more hot sauce

Baxter's? Hang on hang on hang on.

Why is Canada importing food from *Scotland* for the army?

Canada doesn't have a lot of manufacturing but dammit, I know we have food!

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars tsm688 says:

Don't worry, Frank's Red Hot isn't even the slightest bit hot. It's not even vinegary. It's just salt water with food coloring

That does indeed look like the Baxters of Speyside logo on that pack of pear slices – I guess they must have a branch in Canada. It's pretty local to where I live so that logo is very familiar to me.
