This isn't just a spooky kids flashlight that projects ghosts onto walls. It's a handy pocket version of an ancient theatrical unit called a Linnebach lantern. As a bonus it's quite easy to disassemble and hack in whatever LED you want, making it useful for other things too.
If you enjoy these videos you can help support the channel with a dollar for coffee, cookies and random gadgets for disassembly at:-

This also keeps the channel independent of YouTube's advertising algorithms allowing it to be a bit more dangerous and naughty.

My daughter got a penguin that plays music and has 3 LEDs that project onto the ceiling. It takes 3 – C Batteries. I thought maybe it doesn't have enough power. I was going to add an DC Adapter but instead I did the Clive and took it to bits 🙂 I made it USB. It has a ceramic capacitor between the Positive connection. I accidentally put the positive on the wrong side and the light didn't work at all. When I switched it, now it works but its no better. I think the problem is what you mentioned. Its not very efficient. Its the same design, it even includes little plastic plates you slide in to project different images.

Back in the 80's my son, who was about 10 at the time went to the Lion's Carnival and won a door prize, it was a "Ghost Gun!" It was a neat little deal, looked sort of like an old army sub-machine gun, long magazine out the bottom (where you loaded the batteries) and a place where you loaded the ghost strips. There was a rather bright light, and a series of lenses that projected those ghost icons, then when you pulled the trigger, a needle would pierce the little ghost target and it would show as a bullet hole in the ghost. For their time, they were quite nice, i think i killed more ghosts with it then my son! It even had a sight type deal and the rear of the gun would move so you could draw a bead on the ghost before firing.

Thanks for reminding me about Linnebach projectors! I made a very nice (though I say it myself) stained glass effect using one about 30 years ago at college…

At least in my area of the country, we don't call the "holiday" trick-or-treat. That's just the traditional door greeting.
you can go trick-or-treating which is the act of going from door to door saying same.
    How is it different there?

This item is available in poundland now. The body comes in several colours, but all have the same gobo / image discs. Poundland are also doing quite a variety of LED Halloween stuff.
