In case you're not aware, an important electronic YouTuber called Fran is being displaced from her workshop by property speculators. You may not have come across Fran despite her high subscriber count because YouTube places less emphasis on channels that don't monetise their videos (because running YouTube costs a proverbial shit-ton of money to host and deliver the content.)
Suffice to say that Fran represents two sections of YouTube that are super-important. The vintage electronics that have evolved to what we have today and the trans technical community. I realise that many people can't get their head around the whole trans thing, which is fully understandable. But it may make it easier if I say that the reason for the success of humans above all other species is that some of us are born genderless. We're literally classified as engineers by mother nature. Our sole purpose and reward in life is to design, build and maintain society. As such, we tend to go in a rather random direction, hence why so many great engineers are loners, bears and transgender. It's just the way it is. And it doesn't bother us because the most important thing in our life is working to build and maintain society. And that includes training the next generation of engineers right here on YouTube.
Here's a link to one of my fave Fran videos where she is visibly shocked when a vintage piece of equipment starts "talking" in that wonderful way that 1980's Texas Instruments speech synthesis does:-

And since we're in THAT area of YouTube. Here's another wonderful youtube technical wizard:-

Petabyte
Google bites! 😆
I'm three years late to this video, but in case you still care: The unit beyond "terabyte" you were asking about is called "petabyte" (PB, 10^15 bytes). However, I have seen estimates of YouTube's accumulated storage requirements reaching well into the "exabyte" (10^18 bytes, so 1 EB equals 1000 PB) range as of 2022.
Accepting a man as a woman is exactly the same as accepting a man as a baby, plant, or animal biologically speaking. It really is a binary issue. Just saying… be prepared to go all the way with acceptance or not at all. You will be faced with this in your lifetime.
Petabytes are after terabytes.
LOL The text-description for this vid is excellent!
Brilliant video..
Probably too late, but they look like Otis Autotronic buttons. Fran is going through this again.
This is a sad video to see again, as with poor Frans current situation this video needs a part 2
Oh that's interesting I was thinking elevator related and really Logic.
“Luxury Apartments”
That’s what I call an oxymoron!
Petabytes
I read Clive’s comment on what the tubes are, my favorite Otis invention is relay logic, just the idea of over 100 relays in series that can make decisions that a simple arduino could control is mind blowing. What’s really amazing is how reliable those systems were, they were made in the 1950s and some are still in use to this day. Everything I’ve learned about elevators is from a 2 hour video on YouTube, it’s on Deviant Ollam’s channel, and it’s called elevator hacking, from the pit to the penthouse. It’s just a 2 hour video where Dev and another guy by the name of Howard Pane who just so happens to be an elevator technician, talk all about elevators, mostly on elevator security, but there is some really interesting information in there. I think you’d like the channel Clive, he does a lot with RFID hacking, and he also does a lot with other electronic access control systems, he also does some stuff with conventional locking systems.
Ah, good! I had been wondering about the trans thing, so I'm glad to find you're supportive!
I also am a trans and do electronics on my channel (very occasionally atm due to mold, maybe I need a gofundme lol) so I've loved Fran for a while now <3
Was the competition puzzle solved? My guess based on the wire terminal sizes, the apparent simplicity of the electrodes inside the glass envelope and the minimal components is that this could be part of a thyratron based lighting control unit. I could imagine a pair of thyratrons being used with alternate supply half cycles. I could be wrong of course…
I have to say I'm very pleasently surprised to see most people here being either supportive of trans people or at least open minded about them. When I started watching your videos a few weeks ago, I was really enjoying them but was expecting most of technical youtube (and possibly even you) to hold quite… conservative views on the topics of genders and sexual orientations, and was dreading the day I'd find that out for sure, in case it was so bad it'd gross me out of the hobby. Stereotypes I guess. Again, really glad to discover such a welcoming community !
