These lamps started off so well, but now they've kinda made them a bit too cheap. The first units had about 50 LEDs and these ones now have only 20. The original glass globe has been replaced with a plastic one in various styles.
I completely mangled the base trying to get the globe to separate from the base on the first unit I dismantled, but as you can see in the video I discovered they're easy to take to bits and reassemble non-destructively.
The power supply is a very simple two transistor one. Not very efficient, but does the job and is very low power anyway.
If you enjoy these videos you can help support the channel with a dollar for coffee, cookies and random gadgets for disassembly at:-

This also keeps the channel independent of YouTube's advertising algorithms allowing it to be a bit more dangerous and naughty.

That's nice – A cheap Chinese product that went from 'tacky' to 'hacky'! They have something similar in Yorkshire Trading Company, right now. I think I need to take a closer look!

The local lighting shop used to have a version with those obnoxious self-changing RGB LEDs but in a form factor of that wire LED and tere were many many of them, about 50 or more. So instead of being annoying, it actually twinkled to their own pacing and it looked quite nice.

For a battery powered version get the 'spooky bulb' Poundland sell as part of their Halloween collection. Its power supply is a single resistor.

Might have already answered before not sure, but why don't you use Aliexpress? Same shipping time as ebay (for chiense items) but far cheaper.

You can fix your broken one with some sticky tape.

Also i have an idea for a project. Sure you could put a hundred leds in there… maybe you should have a contest guess how many could be stuffed in there… jam a thousand in there!

Which component would you alter to adjust the voltage across the led string? is the RC time constant for the 10uf and the 240 ohm controlling what is driven into the secondary? do you have access to a version of spice where you have looked at what would improve the power factor? thank you.
