An electrode water heating device that is relatively safe for a change (although it relies on a single thermal switch). This one has the electrified water inside a sealed two layer plastic/vinyl bag with a thermal switch to turn it off once heated. I'm not sure what would happen if the thermal switch failed. The bag might swell up with steam to the point the electrodes were clear of the water, or it might just burst.
If you enjoy my videos you can support the channel with a dollar for coffee, cookies and stuff to take apart at https://www.patreon.com/bigclive
The listing I bought this from was as follows, noting that it is specified as a 220V unit, so it will take longer to heat on 110V.

The secret of this device is the salt they put inside.
If you remove it by changing the "rusty water" it stop working
Mine flashes red while charging…around the charging area of the bag…does that mean it's faulty?
So what is the fluid inside the cushion – I might have missed somewhere.
7years ago me buying and one wonder what it's inside
Watched Julian's mini tear down and then watched Clive the destroyer at work, so we don't have to.
" I'm not sure what would happen if the thermal switch failed." I think this would make a good summer garden experiment to see if it goes bang!
I have JML, Powertron branded version as well as the version you dismantled in the video they all have the same type of 3 pin connector. The JML and Powertron power connector have a 240v cable wired into what looks a plastic stapler with a power switch in the pivoted part.
When you clean up the liquid and refill it with water, then it will draw less wattage and need longer time to reaching maximum heat.
I found that original liquid just mixed with Salt! It makes the pillow work properly.
I just try to add water + baking soda, work better and draw less wattage.
Just always pay attention to mix with base chemical (or my be weak acid like a vinegar) to the water if you refill the water form completely empty pillow.
This pillow just helping many cancer patients when they need a warmer to relieving their pain.
I always use it, one on my feet and another on my shoulder. So easy to use and work so well.
I'd love to shove my hands "into a nice warm muff"
Hey Big Clive. You probably won't see this but I was recently gifted a similar unit to this. It's branded 'HotPod' and is a sealed unit. Feeling around through the lining, it appears that the one I have has a separate component connected by wires to the plug-in point. I'm mad curious now as to the differences between mine and the one you've disassembled. The unit I have is distributed by an Australian company and has a weird charging arm that looks like a stapler or strange shoe horn.
Can you fill it with water? I have one and want to ad more liquid? Kan I add it of it already came with water?
A muff that slowly off-gasses hydrogen and oxygen. Nice 😊
Hello!
When emptying the pack from the fluid inside that i had previously filled (water) i found the fluid to be insanely dark brown. Any ideas on what it might be? Is it just rusty water?
The 2 electrodes will rust and disintegrate over time. I had one that was stored for about a year. I took it out recently to use but it seems deflated. When i wanted to refill the water massive amount of rust water and rust particles came out the filler hole. I flushed the thing. Refilled with water again. But the unit failed to heat up. Junked the unit and got another new one because its cheap.
I think filling it up with distilled water is the best way to curb rust formation. The last unit had tap water in it.
i just damaged while doing Drop test😢
how do you add water again, i mean how do you get the cock out add 500 ml then recork?
