How to make a mcpower thief? This is a chi inductive phone charger sometimes found in the tables of fast food restaurants. Here's how to steal just a little bit of power for fun. Take some insulated wire and wrap 20 turns around a cylindrical former of approximately one inch or 25 millimeters in diameter. Once you've wound your coil slip it off and secure it against unraveling get a couple of leds and solder them in inverse parallel.

That's a long lead of one to the short lead to the other and vice versa, and then attach your coil and that's it. That's you made your little mcpower thief. You can now steal the power so go forth. My hungry warriors and steal all the power and feast upon burgers.

Thanks to this video, next time I go to McDonalds I'll probably mistakenly order the Big Clive and Fries.

I feel taunted considering my design still doesn't work.
Need to check if my coil driver using a 555 actually works when I can borrow an oscilloscope.

My little series on this was based on 3D printing a little spider with 8 LED eyes and a small choke to grab the wireless power. I haven't tried them in McD's so that is something to try out.

Good idea. Unfortunately, I don't go to McDonalds (or Burger King) for over 20 years, since I started to have serious suspicions on what goes in those burgers – only homemade for me now ๐Ÿ™‚

I have a phone that can wirelessly charge another phone and got to give this a go for some extra battery flattening action!!

I steal power from my local McD every-time I go there with my e-motorcycle.
I spend ~$15 to steal $0.035 (300W) power. I am very business savoy indeed.

They are in the tables for public use so how is the public using them stealing anything, if you want to steal something you have to physically take it with you when you leave, take the charger port itself and you will then be a McPower Thief.

Could you put a capacitor in it or something to have the light continue on and power one of those e-candles to have a candle lid dinner at McD?

I think you're loving this one, Clive!

You aught to produce these as a gimmick to sell on eBay, or wherever!

  11. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Picobyte says:

Add a 0.5ลณF capacitor to make a proper LC cirquit. That works much better. It will still only pulse as the charger looks for an receiver signal, but it should flash much brighter ๐Ÿ‘

It may only be one letter of a difference ..but the concept of YouTube Sharts has improved that part of the platform exponentially.

I have seen powerbanks that can wirelessly charge phones, but what about powerbanks being able to charge wirelessly themselves, then you could really steal power (and take it with you)

T'ch! That's no good, Boss! How we gonna make off wit' da moichandize? Da MOICHANDIZE, Boss? Yer gonna need to get Brains onta this, and he's either gonna need a phone charger with a solar panel, or a hell of an extension cable!

Now only if you could make a food warmer from one. Every time I go the burger and fries are only slightly warmer than room temp :/

Time to make a McTrenchcoat lined with 18650 cells and a nice glove with an induction coil in the palm.
    PROFIT

Fascinating idea. I already use MacDonalds for the occasional McPiss. I feel free power would be overstepping the mark. ๐Ÿ˜‚
