If you have any questions you'd like to ask the technical crew of the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo then leave them down in the comments below. The main technical departments are:-
Lighting.
Sound.
Projection.
Pyrotechnics.
Props and FX.
Questions will also be considered for:-
Catering.
Stadium construction team.
Paramedics.
If you enjoy these videos you can help support the channel with a dollar for coffee, cookies and random gadgets for disassembly at:-

This also keeps the channel independent of YouTube's advertising algorithms allowing it to be a bit more dangerous and naughty.

Stage is remarkably clean of mics/monitors. Are instruments close-mic'd? How many channels of wireless need to be coordinated for mics and IEMs?
Obviously, for the entire crew…is it true you have to wear a kilt during the performance?
Question for lighting dept: What type of software and projectors are used for the mapping? What are the specs of the projectors. What year did mapping become part of the program? Can we also take a look at all the controls in action and the lighting desk. Thanks Clive. ๐
question for the lighting guys. Why is DMX still the standard? Why not move to an Ethernet IP protocol for light control like E1.31?
What was the question again?
Where is the ashens poster?
How common would it be for members of the various crews at the Tattoo to work together on other jobs? Is there a lot of variation in who's on any given job in a single crew, or are the crews themselves fairly consistent? Just wondering how much an event like this is a bit of a reunion of people who know each other fairly well versus a different mix each time. Thanks and may things only go hang when you want them to.
What does the processing on the projection, there steamed to be a load of different projectors to get the animations on the castle (Presumably due to the throws needed.) What is used to control LX and projection?
How much does the event cost to put on? PA, Pyros, lighting, crew, security, must be profitable? ๐ค Would love to see a behind the scenes video like last year's.
Do Xenon bulbs really explode?
Does anyone still use Carbon Arc spotlights?
Show us one!
OK here's another question for you. Just saw a video of the entrance of the pipe and drum corps. At one point, the leader is in two side spots, one from each side. But as they march down the field then back up, the angle of those lights on the guy doesn't seem to change! It literally looks like the lights are moving back an forth with him! How are they doing that? Do they have a line of spots and hand off one to the next as he marches back and forth? I will say this, it definitely looks cool!!
