Poundland has two mains voltage USB chargers in its stores. I thought I'd get one of each, test them and then take a look inside.

Thankfully poundworld is no more
Throughly enjoyed that video, it’s good to know it’s not all crap and that good safe usable products can be purchased for so little. I always default to expensive!
I used to repair home computers for my sins at one time. The quality of the mains plug wiring was appalling, I would say without exaggerating that over 75% were not safe, ranging from leads connected between live and earth, 13 A fuses, fuses shorted out – the whole lot.
good old poundland
PAT testing
Anyone else that thought: "That's a tautology" then congrats on being a whovian
I used my new Habotest earlier, which seems to function correctly. However, can you explain the RCD test? When I pressed the button, the circuit breaker tripped out. Is this normal, and if not, what needs to be done?
No Ground or earth in Canada on these plugs. And no PAT testing here.
Maybe a video about amounts of radio interference generated from these power supplies,as a radio ham we need as little interference from power supplies as possible,Colin
Poundland ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Only real way to test these on a scope under rated load. Yes I know about mains isolation. Crap ripple kills toys.
Used to do PAT testing. I once succeeded in closing down a large school office. They ran everything off extension leads which all failed. Then to finish them off I failed their kettle and coffee machines.
