Another ebay special getting dissected. This time a somewhat different style with surface mount LEDs mounted on an aluminium core laminate. Pretty common capacitive dropper circuit passing about 50mA through the LEDs. Ebay seller rating 3W actual rating about 1.8W. Still quite a nice lamp though.
This video is probably too old to get a response. I am learning and trying to understand some things. Is it true that the 820nf capacitor has a voltage drop of about 200v?
Why put resistor 470K beside capasitor 2.2mf/400V with connected (+ -) ?
it will be short blow up dude . ,
Hi, can you explain the use of 820nF cap?
is it used to control the input current. for example with 240V peak input voltage and 3900 Ohms of capacitive reactance plus 47 ohms of resistor in series , will limit the input current to (240/3947 ohms)= 60mA of current ?
I am no "pro" electrician but im enjoying your vids lol, I have one of these units or one very similar, also bought ones with no IR, one x 20w and 2 x 25 watt ones, i was wondering, Clive, in general, would you say that, these lamps in fact, in general use a lot more power than they state, and then have that dropped by res's and caps and such? So maybe they are not so "energy freindly" as the rhumors may say?
Have you done a tear down of ones like this? = ebay number – 271891592707 ๐ ?
any advice on lower power consumption, or higher amount of light per watt ect would be very helpfull, if you have tested some higher power LED globe lights, possibly using 5370 yellow or white if white exist LED would be amazing, thank you for taking the time to show us the guts of these items ๐
