Someone mentioned a 5W bulkhead light available from what I thought was a store called Lidl. I popped in when I was in Glasgow, but didn't see any. Then when I was in an Aldi (similar store) in Edinburgh I saw them. So I got one for us to take to bits.
The mystery current regulator chip has the number 68R8 and what is probably a date code on it.
If you enjoy these videos you can help support the channel with a dollar for coffee, cookies and random gadgets for disassembly at:-

This also keeps the channel independent of YouTube's advertising algorithms allowing it to be a bit more dangerous and naughty.

Someone may have mentioned it already, but both (Aldi and Lidl) are Discount stores / supermarkets out of Germany with almost equal concepts, though Aldi is (i think) more comprehensive in their product pallet (they even sell computer systems under the Medion brand).
The story with the Brothers is exclusively on Aldi, which is split in two Aldi (North) and Aldi Süd and they do not encroach on each others' territories.
How to fix flickering
Here in Michigan we have Aldi to
I have a sister working at ALDI here in Australia and their electronics are usually pretty good value and quality.
💡👍👍😊
That first 10 Ohn resister and the potentiometer across the live and neutral will be the potential divider I'm guessing and will be adjusted to get the correct voltage.
I was looking at trying to use a mains powered emergency LED bulkhead on a 12v battery
as they are a better light but I need to supply 3.6v to the battery terminals. Been trying to work out what resistors I need for potential divider but there is so much conflicting info on Internet.
Good break down vid.
Put it alongside you "back door". 😁
I bought a couple of these for lighting up a couple of walk in cupboards. Both have noticeable screen flicker, but one's since been replaced as it flickered so badly you could see the flicker with the naked eye.
Lady was selling these in car boot for £2.50 each, I scooped 3 for £6.50
Lidl is a rival (copier) of Aldi. The Albrecht brothers divided Aldi into a Nord and Süd, but they're active in different regions, they don't compete with each other.
Are these dimmable?
In the US Aldi is a supermarket chain that mostly sells generic brand foods. It's kind of a store that a lot of people in low income households shop at (at least where I live, don't know if that's true everywhere). IMO most of the food they sell tastes the same as name brand stuff just in simpler packaging. I've never seen any electronics in my local Aldi but maybe that's more of a UK/Europe thing? Idk.
I bought some of these lamps for like 5€ and I'm really surprised that they are totally flicker free. How do they manage to do that without capacitors?
