I think I've given it long enough between the last camping light videos to take a look at some more. This one is a versatile rechargeable light that doubles as a power bank for powering and charging stuff via its USB port.
I'm not sure if the battery compartment blank is to give the choice between 2 or 4 cells, or if it's a factory "option"
A rough test of current shows about:-
600mA at full centre beam.
200mA at low centre beam.
750mA diffused ring.
40mA hazard warning.
Here's an eBay search link, but you'll have to filter through a few lights and try ratings like 10W and 15W to find all the listings. Make sure you look for the ones with the battery level indicator as there also seems to be a dodgy looking version with a token gesture solar panel on the back.

If you enjoy these videos you can help support the channel with a dollar for coffee, cookies and random gadgets for disassembly at:-

This also keeps the channel independent of YouTube's advertising algorithms allowing it to be a bit more dangerous and naughty.

So they sprang for a fair dinkum quad comparator for the battery level indicator? That's impressive; I've come to expect the ubiquitous 8-pin one-pence micros with the voltage measured in software (which I can't how they even).

Can you sub out a 3.7v lipo cell for the 18650 batteries???

I've got one of these, and it's pretty nice 😉 depending on how long I need it to run, and what quality cells I'm using, depends on if I use 1, 2 or 4 cells.

I got the dodgy version with the solar panel, seems to work O.K. Batteries are "built-in", and no "hazard" light or battery monitor.

How to modify so the "ring light" is always on with the center light?
Can the board handle it if I just bridge the – wires?

Bought one of these works nice when fixing my car and stuff.

I bought one of these and whipped 4 cells from an old laptop into it and it's great! You can even run it off just 1 cell without issue.

There's a new version of this on Banggood for £4.25 with a solar charger on the back in place of the battery cover, on solar it takes over 60 hours to full charge. Unknown if it will take 2 or 4 cell no info in description.

i imagine they partitioned off two cells so they could cheap out and only put two batteries in and sell it. if people bought it with two batteries and two empty holes for batteries they would feel ripped off, but throwing that little bit of plastic in it cut the price of the unit down.

My guess: they got complaints about how long it took to charge the batteries, and nobody reads the manual so they wouldn’t know it could function on just one and charge super fast. Just block a couple slots up to stop customer complaints.

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars MGlBlaze says:

Wow. The fact that the other two cell slots were completely there, fully wired with the contacts and all, is fucking hilarious.
I guess they used a standard mould and couldn't be bothered to use a different one. Or they didn't want to confuse people that didn't understand that the cells were in parallel so you don't actually need all four of them in terms of voltage, and covered half of them.
