This Power Bar is the first one that was recalled after some fire incidents. Subsequently ALL the Power Bars were recalled, which is a shame since it was fundamentally a good idea that seems to have been well implemented.

I got an EE ad before this video lol
The circuit board and socket came loose on mine, maybe that's what caused the failures. The replacement one is still working fine. Not sure which version they are as the writing has rubbed off.
2 Years later. I had one of these about 3 years ago. One of the original models. It came in a new box from EE in packaging, not ever used. I was sat in my car with it charging using my phone (parked). Official working apple cable as I only got the phone a few weeks before. I started smelling burning and looked down to smoke coming from the powerbar. Immediately took it outside of the car an put it on the floor. It was burning hot. It definitely wasn't down to poor use in my case. I wonder why mine burned out.
Imagine if one of them exploded in store.
I know this is old, but I'm pretty sure those are 2600mah Panasonic cells, at least the grey/gray ones anyway. They seem to be very popular in power banks
Another booooooring Saturday! Wonder what ever happened to the Saturday Cartoons for kids? I miss that, I can recall looking forward all week to Saturday, after we moved to town and had a television, I could only be found on Saturdays laying on the floor in front of the television watching hour after hour of Popeye, and the Warner Brother Cartoons. Ah those were the good old days. So to make up for it, now I make an attempt to add to my electrical knowledge by watching hour after hour of Big Clive reruns!
So why post on this one? Well not just to lament the loss of my youth, wasted on the floor in front of the old floor model RCA Television, in living black and white, but to comment on a damn Lipo battery. The other day I pulled one of those rechargeable clones of the apple watch, the Cheap China knock offs that supposedly call home to china now and again. Thought I would charge it up and play with it for a day or two, when I noticed the back was separated! It was not one where you take the back off to insert memory or a sim card or the like, but one with screws hidden under a tin plate on the back. The lipo cell had swollen to about twice it's size and destroyed the case on the watch. Well another watch in the trash, but I never expected such a thing out of a stupid cheap china watch.
You know im not 100% sure

I purchased DIY power banks and built them with quality cells. I have had no issues with any of them melting down and these seem to be well made, so perhaps they were trying to be safe by recalling all of them. Maybe they just had a batch of bad cells.
I buy the cheapo banks, but I also am careful to keep them within eyesight when charging. I think this is a good practice even with high quality gear because even the best phone might have crimped your battery the last time you dropped it without you realizing it.

is the ee power bank is safe to use?
I just left autoplay on and listened to your videos for 4+ hours, from my bed. You have an extraordinary pleasant voice!
