Much simpler than the zapping fly traps, this type uses a UVA lamp to attract flies to a replaceable sticky board. When they land on it they get stuck.
The most complicated part of this is the electronic ballast for the tube, which is the same sort of circuitry you'd find inside a compact fluorescent lamp.
Interesting startup circuit. Very minimalist.
This unit does have a weird design flaw. It has to be plugged into an extension or adaptor, since the case fouls the switch on most UK sockets, preventing it from being plugged in fully.
I specifically avoid using intrusive mid-run video adverts, which means I don't earn as much from my content as other YouTubers.

    You couldn't just use any fluorescent ballast? I have a 40w version that'll run just about anything I poke onto it, but why they didn't use les for this I don't know, making a product to throw out some tubes nobody would use any more 👀

    There is also the sugar coated sticky fly traps, that work quite well. As the name suggests its just tape you pull out with a sugar coating and the flys are attracted to it and get well stuck. When full rip off tape and bin. Then pull out some more tap from holder. But probably a bit boring from a electronics point of view.
