This thing didn't last long. It started with an impressive show before suddenly ceasing to emit ions while still making an active buzzing noise. This obviously required a bit of reverse engineering. The circuitry inside is partly clever and partly nonsensical.

Since it stopped working and just made purring noises, did you consider that possibly the internals had be replaced with one of Schrödinger's cats? Of course when you opened it up, you collapsed the wave function and were left with dead electronics…. somehow….
