I bought this little light a while ago but never got round to taking it to bits. That has now been remedied, and it's not bad inside. A very modular and serviceable construction, and it is possible to change the LED for a different colour if desired.
Tested cell capacity is 276mAh.

Hi Clive, thanks for this. The new ones have a lanyard strap attached to the tailcap. All that is needed to disassembly is tug moderately hard on the strap.

I decided I wanted to put a warmer LED in there and change out the resistor to 15 ohms to bring down the current. Once opened, I found out they are now using one long PCB instead of two shorter ones, and the resistor is 5R1.

If you can believe it, they are putting a much smaller lithium cell inside now. It only takes up about 1/3 of the length of the one you disassembled and flatter. I had a spare narrow cell twice it's length, 0.5 W*h, so there was just enough room to put both of them in there in parallel. Maybe I brought the capacity back up to where it used to be, a little north of 200 mA*h.

Maybe it will run up to an hour on a charge and not blacken the LED…

Would love to see more like this. Rechargeable LED lights that could be tinkered with and hacked from cheap and easy to get components from local pound shops or even from eBay. This is actually a really nice design, quite robust, and actually looks pretty well made compared to the $2 plastic ones from pound shops

Plus, those LED lights come in a 3000K 'warm' version, which is kinder to the eyes.

Clive, I can't find anywhere that sells your iSesame pry bar you use, so instead I use a feeler gauge to open stubborn items. The bend-ability of these feeler gauges varies, of course, by the thickness of the stainless steel strips, but they are very useful.

I've had one of these, several years, the battery has never discharged, always trusty, switch is a bit dodgy now, so hold it engaged with the pen clip

I have a similar pen light but it also has a UV LED and a little red laser – it's very nice

I have a similar little rechargeable pen type light, yet it also has a red Lazer pointer on it & a black light setting which works well on banknotes.
Three different settings inside a small tube package, the Chinese are getting better at some things.

I thought spudger was just a pet name but it's a real term recognised by ebay. I wonder what steel it's made of. You could make some pretty useful mods with a dremmel for awkward precise prying in confined spaces, such as inside a tube of that diameter . I also thought this was a new video, being dated 19th Feb and on the top row of the youtube home page, but it's from 2019. Not to worry, it's pretty timeless.

I have two of these, one I have 4 or 5 years now. Very usable light, even works while charging. They also come in warm white if you search a bit.

A friend gave me one of these. He had a few of them that he got from a pallet store on "$5 fill-a-bag" day. He gets all kinds neat stuff when he goes to them. I'm not real fond of the focused beam. Any suggestions on replacing the LED with a better one,? I know the lens is probably the main cause of it though.
